Great Books Council of San Francisco

San Francisco Mini-Retreat

The council hosts an annual one-day mini-retreat in San Francisco. The event usually features a lively discussion of a work of fiction followed by a group viewing of its film adaptation.

Our next San Francisco Mini-Retreat will be on February 24, 2018. We'll discuss The Remains of the Day by Nobel Prize-winning British writer Kazuo Ishiguro. After lunch we'll view the 1993 film adaptation starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.

We're now completely full, and registration for this event has been closed.

If you'd like to have your name added to a mailing list to be notified about this and future San Francisco Mini-Retreats, please email the registrar Parki Hoeschler at phoeschler@aol.com.

San Francisco mini-retreats in recent years have featured discussions of Doubt, The Kite Runner, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Revolutionary Road, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Leopard, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, 1984, The End of the Affair, Death in Venice, Lolita and The Painted Veil.
